Travelling to GISRUK 2019

Newcastle is easily accessable via public transport and our venue is located very close to the city centre and the ammenities this offers. The organised social events are both easily accessible and only a few minutes walk from the Urban Sciences Building. We would therefore ask all delegates to consider using public transport to travel to Newcastle where possible and reasonable.

By Train

Newcastle Central Station is on the East Coast mainline and serviced by a range operators offering direct trains from London, York, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow and many other locations.

Central station is only a 15minute walk from the conference venue, the Urban Sciences Building, and the city centre is a 10minute walk from the station.

If wishing to use public transport to the venue, the Tyne and Wear metro can be used to go from Central station to St. James', the closest station to the venue, though a change will be required at Monument station.

There is also a taxi rank outside the station if required.

By Coach

Newcastle Coach Station is serviced by National Express and is a 15minute walk from the venue. Other operators provide services to Newcastle.

By Car

We recomend that those attending the conference use public transport, however if you chose to travel by car there is a range of city centre car parks located close to the venue. The closest option is St. James' park. No parking is available at the venue.
